Biography

b. 2 Jan. 1794, Newton, Camden Co., N.J., dau. John and Rebecca (Angevine) Barton.
Attracted to a gay and lively group of young people. A favorite for her singing. ca. 1813, broke off from these associations. Richard Jordan was very helpful to her.
1815, minister. 1818, acknowledged. 1819, spoke at Thomas Scattergood's funeral, Pine St., Phila.
m., 1824 William Evans, and moved to 134 South Front St., Phila., Pa. (later, 252). Four children. See Evans, William, 1787-1867.
Visited nearly all the Yearly Meetings in America, with many meetings belonging to them. In disposition she was open and cheerful.
d. 14 (12?) Nov. 1861, Salem, N.J., of a heart attack, aged ca. 67.
