Cope's ministry was mostly confined to Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, though he also visited Ohio Yearly Meeting in 1852. Transparent in character, Cope was unsuspicious and confiding to men of all degrees. His Irish humour was at times irrepressible. He lived for most of his life in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
